Afternoon Tea - how to host, this Easter

As well as the glorious food itself, an afternoon tea is often a wonderful display of stands, tableware and accessories.

We at Woods, regularly enjoy an afternoon tea, we also have them in store at our events throughout the year. So, we’ve put together some simple how-to tips to get you afternoon tea ready this Easter!

THE TABLEWARE...

3 tiers or just 1, cake stands are a great way to display your afternoon tea. You can also use your finest crockery with a set of napkins as additional platters for food.

This sophisticated bead detailed Neptune Bowsley Cake Stand is perfect to use as a centerpiece.

The use of napkins is also a great way to add contrasting colour to your finest crockery.

THE MAIN EVENT – FOOD & DRINK...

Sandwiches – 2 to 4 fillings are enough variety. Be sure to check with your guests on any dietary requirements.  prawn, salmon, cheese & cucumber and Beef & Horseradish are firm favourites here… Allocate approximately 4 sandwiches per person.

Cakes – Victoria and chocolate mini sponges, dusted and decorated with icing sugar are light and delicious. Try chocolate brownies too in small squares. 2/3 cakes per person

Fruit – strawberries & raspberries compliment these cakes fabulously.

Add bowls of chocolate eggs and platters of hot crossed buns to complete the Easter theme.

Drinks – traditionally, tea is served, you could also opt for a glass of bubbles and a jug of squash with a handful of summer fruits to enhance the flavour.
